  3. Research Director, ORC International (Formally Guideline)

I delivered market research in support of B2B and B2C clients. Many of the projects I managed leveraged my technical background for R&D and with industrial clients.  Projects utilized project teams of technical analysts examining domestic and international trends in technology, IP, markets, and science to identify potential development opportunities.

    Selected highlights include

    • Delivered over 300 projects with a single key client (many contacts) informing the innovation, product development, and market explorations across the U.S. and international business divisions.
    • An example of international projects managed is a 19-country/125-interview market assessment that advised client’s international teams of executives on go/no go decision regarding expansion efforts.
    • Framed strategic options for a client’s major brand extension initiative by assessing possible competitive environment in 13 countries to a matrix of 25 different product introductions.
  4. Sr. Market Insights Manager, ORC International (now Engine Group)

I work with clients on their strategic/competitive intelligence initiatives, product development, and M&A activities.  Projects I manage utilize virtual and at times global teams of internal and external analysts and partners/vendors. Much of the work is assessments and sizing of markets, competitive intelligence, and technical trends within industrial, B2B, and CPG markets.

The emphasis has been on qualitative studies of poorly documented markets.  More recent work has included quantitative studies within the consumer side of these markets.

    Client feedback to projects include

    • Redirected investments to new territories after learning from market study that position was already strong in operating geography
    • Study of new (to client) sales channel operated very differently than thought and updated strategic initiative to align with recommendations
    • Technology landscape highlighted a white space where (client) had on-the-shelf technology.  A new product was on the market in only a few months
